17. Juni 2025
Call for Proposals: PERFORMANCE+DESIGN Working Group
PSi #30 Conference: XXX Cruzo, Cruising, Crossroads
Fortaleza, Brazil
11-15 December 2025
x PERFORMANCE + DESIGN x CRUISING CROSSROADS
Performance Studies international (PSi), in collaboration with the Graduate Arts Program at Universidade Federal do Ceará in Fortaleza, Brazil, invites responses to the call for proposals for the PSi #30 Conference in 2025.
Conference theme: XXX — CRUZO, CRUISING, CROSSROADS
PERFORMANCE DESIGN has been proposed as a ‘critical spatial practice’, often carried out by neither trained performers nor designers. As a form of dynamic engagement between bodies and spatio-temporal environments
How and what do PERFORMANCE + DESIGN incorporate to create that complex x-thing that is the sum of and/or negation of the two fields? What strange alchemy, powerful forces, etiolation, and annihilation occur at their intersectional meeting?
For PSi XXX, working groups have been invited to curate their own programs within the overall program. We therefore invite proposals for papers, flash-talks and actions to be submitted for team review by 25th July to be sent to psiperformancedesign@gmail.com

As the conference curators write: –
The undecidability of the x-thing is … a sign of complexity, not imprecision. It imparts a critical quality of inconclusiveness that bespeaks the diversified and often conflicting modes of reception and mobilization … [T]he vibrating energy produced by the paradox is way more fertile than the attempt to settle for a conclusion.
PRESENTATION FORMATS:
The conference invites proposals in English, Portuguese, or Spanish, for online, in-person, or blended participation in various formats that include:
• Individual papers: in-person: (12 – 15 minutes
• Flash Talk: 6mins
• Performances 3-4 mins in-session or proposed alternative (with minimal technical support)
