The Standardisation Committee (STA) is a cooperative association of cultural and scientific institutions in the DACH region. The committee has the the aim to ensure the use of uniform standards for indexing, interfaces and formats in libraries and promoting the cross-sector harmonisation of indexing and data networking through common standards such as the Integrated Authority File (GND). The AG Performing Arts is a regular working group of the STA.
At the heart of performative practices and related academic research are events and processes that are described using terms such as rehearsal, staging, performance, performance, etc. These events must be contextualised in order to be able to be researched based on sources and clearly referenced. Performing arts are understood to mean all areas of scenic practice, i.e. acting, musical theatre, puppet and object theatre, dance, cabaret, performance, media art, and many more. Therefore, exchange and cooperation with other STA working groups (for example on music, image and AV resources) should also be established.
The Performing Arts working group's specific work projects include efficient indexing guidelines, technically adequate and sustainable data modelling and the expansion of GND data with regard to the performing arts. To this end, communication structures are established that ensure a sustainable dialogue between stakeholders beyond the individual institutions, so that the working group's work packages are both theoretically sound and practically applicable. Through its members, a close connection is ensured between the memory institutions, the researchers / teachers as well as with artistic practice, and other national and international initiatives and committees.
